LIVE STATS — FRIDAY
LIVE STATS — SUNDAY
SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. — With the start of the Big West Championships less than a week away, the Cal Poly women's tennis program hosts its final two home matches this Friday and Sunday to wrap up regular season play.
The Mustangs (9-8) take on UC Riverside first at 1 p.m. Friday at the Mustang Tennis Complex and then finish off regular season action at 1 p.m. Sunday against Blue-Green rival and 53rd-ranked UC Santa Barbara. Following Sunday's match, Cal Poly will honor its two seniors — Delanie Dunkle and Melissa LaMette.
With two conference matches remaining, Cal Poly currently sits in fifth place in the Big West standings with a 4-3 record. A number of matches around the conference that had to be rescheduled due to weather are being played this weekend so countless tiebreaker scenarios are still in play, however, the Mustangs can still finish as high as second in the final regular season standings. Last year, Cal Poly earned a 6-3 conference record to finish in a five-way tie for second place in the Big West regular season standings with UCSB, CSUN, Long Beach State and Cal State Fullerton. But tiebreakers allowed Cal Poly to secure the No. 2 seed in the Big West Championships.

Cal Poly is fresh off an emphatic 7-0 victory at UC Irvine on Monday. In the match, LaMette, juniors Romane Mosse and Eliza Bates and sophomore Kennedy Buntrock all went undefeated in singles and doubles to help the Mustangs roll past the Anteaters.
Mosse picked up her 10th straight singles victory in the dual with UC Irvine, improving to an impressive 13-4 on the season and 6-1 in Big West play. Buntrock upped her singles winning streak to three in the triumph over the Anteaters, and the Henderson, Nevada native and junior Eliza Bates improved to 6-1 on the season as a doubles pairing.
UC Riverside (4-17 overall) sits in last place in the Big West standings with a 0-6 conference record. Last year, the Mustangs cruised to a 6-1 win over the Highlanders in Riverside.
The Gauchos currently lead the Big West with a 6-0 conference record. This past week, UCSB narrowly defeated Cal State Fullerton 4-3 on the road and beat the Anteaters 7-0. UC Santa Barbara hosts back-to-back duals against UC Riverside and CSUN on Saturday before squaring off against the Mustangs on Sunday. The Gauchos' No. 1 singles player Amelia Honer is ranked No. 47 in the country and owns a 15-2 record this spring, winning her last 11 matches. UCSB also boasts the 37th-ranked doubles pairing in the country, made up of Honer and graduate student Kira Reuter. The duo is 10-2 this spring and undefeated in Big West play (4-0).
Last year, Cal Poly earned a dramatic 4-3 victory over the Gauchos to secure its first win at UCSB since 2011 and its first triumph overall over the Gauchos in nine years.
Following its final two home matches, Cal Poly will begin preparations for the Big West Championships, which will take place next Wednesday through Saturday at the Barnes Tennis Center.
