SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. — For the first time in a month, the Cal Poly women's tennis program will host a match at the Mustang Tennis Complex when they take on Santa Clara at noon Sunday.
The dual will mark the Mustangs' (4-5) first action at home since its home and Big West opener against UC Davis on Feb. 3.
Live scoring is available for the match and a link can be found above or on the Cal Poly women's tennis schedule page. Follow Cal Poly women's tennis on Instagram (@calpolywtennis) and X/Twitter (@CalPolyWTennis) for updates throughout the match.
Cal Poly was originally scheduled to open a two-match homestand Friday against Montana State, but that match was canceled due to anticipated weather in the San Luis Obispo area.
This weekend, the Mustangs are seeking to end a four-match losing streak after starting the season 4-1. Three of Cal Poly's five losses this season came against teams that are currently ranked in the top 75 in the latest ITA national rankings.
In this past Sunday's hard-fought 4-3 defeat at Fresno State, sisters Delanie Dunkle and Peyton Dunkle teamed up to earn their third straight victory at the No. 1 doubles spot, improving to 6-2 on the year and 21-10 together in their careers. Last year, the duo earned All-Big West Second Team honors.
With 47 wins, Delanie is currently No. 6 all-time in Division I program history in career doubles victories in duals.
In singles, Peyton and sophomore Kennedy Buntrock both lead the team this season with a 5-2 record in singles. Buntrock is 3-1 this year while playing at the No. 4 spot, and Peyton is currently No. 2 in Division I program history in career winning percentage in dual singles matches (69.7%) with a 30-13 all-time record.
Romane Mosse, a junior transfer from Jacksonville State, went undefeated in singles this past weekend, defeating a pair of opponents at the No. 6 spot.
Santa Clara enters Sunday's dual with a 2-4 record on the year, picking up a 7-0 home victory over the Academy of Art to open its spring season and defeating UC Irvine 4-3 on the road on Feb. 10. The Broncos are currently on a three-match losing streak and are led by redshirt senior JennaMarie Gordon, who is 5-1 this season at the No. 1 singles spot.
The Mustangs have emerged victorious in their last four meetings with the Broncos, including a 4-2 win at Santa Clara last spring. Santa Clara was originally scheduled to play Montana State in a neutral-site match Saturday at the Mustang Tennis Complex, but the match was canceled due to expected rain.
Following Sunday's match, Cal Poly heads back on the road to face CSUN on March 9 and Loyola Marymount on March 10.
