LIVE RESULTS
SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. — Cal Poly distance runners Davis Bove, Tatiana Cornejo and Spencer Pickren head to Dempsey Indoor this Friday through Saturday to compete in the Ken Shannon Last Chance Invite hosted by the University of Washington.
The meet will mark the end of the indoor track and field season for the Mustangs, unless any of the three post a time that is good enough to qualify for the NCAA Indoor Championships on March 8-9 at The TRACK at New Balance in Boston.
This is the fourth time Cal Poly has visited Seattle this indoor season, competing in the UW Indoor Preview on Jan. 13, UW Invitational on Jan. 26-27 and Husky Classic on Feb. 9-10.
You can follow the live results for the two-day meet here and a livestream is available on RunnerSpace+ with the purchase of a subscription.
Cornejo will run in the women's 3,000-meter at 5:55 p.m. Friday (heat 3) to open the meet for the Mustangs. Pickren takes the track right after to compete in the men's 3,000 at around 6:25 p.m. (heat 2). Bove wraps up the weekend for Cal Poly at 11:10 a.m. Saturday when he takes part in the men's mile (heat 5).
In Cornejo's last outing two weeks ago at the Husky Classic, the sophomore obliterated the program record in the women's 5,000 by nearly 22 seconds, posting a 47-second all-around personal best of 16:01.47. She currently owns the fifth-fastest indoor 3,000 time in school history (9:36.80) and will look to climb up the all-time list in the event Friday. This fall in cross country, Cornejo secured USTFCCCA All-West Region honors by placing 23rd at the NCAA West Regional — the program's highest finisher on the women's side in five years. She also earned All-Big West honors by grabbing seventh at the conference meet.
Pickren made history earlier this season in Seattle, recording the second-fastest time in school history in the men's mile (3:59.38) at the UW Invitational. The junior is currently No. 3 on Cal Poly's all-time list in the men's indoor 3,000 (8:07.93).
Bove is slated to participate in his third indoor meet of the season this weekend. The graduate student opened his indoor campaign at the UW Indoor Preview on Jan. 13 by establishing a school record in the men's 1,000. The two-time All-American in the men's indoor mile posted a time of 4:06.21 in the event last Friday at the Terrier DMR Challenge in Boston.
Cal Poly opens its outdoor track and field season on March 6-8 at the UC Santa Barbara Invitational.
