
Cal Poly Football Adds 16 Players During Early Signing Period

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. — 16 high school players, have signed with Cal Poly football so far during the December early signing period, Mustang head coach Paul Wulff announced.
The 2025 signees are, listed alphabetically: TE Reese Brooks, OL Leo Cocchiglia, OL Abu Fofanah, LB Corbin Frutos, CB Stacy Gentle Jr., LB Anthony Navarro, CB Amarion Orange, DE Kaleb Pleis, ATH Omaurie Phillips-Porter, LB Shane Ramstad, ATH Christopher Solis-Lumar, WR Myles Tarkington, ATH Savion Taylor, DL Luke Westfall, QB Sam Wulff, and OL Jon Ybarra.
Frutos, Orange, Solis-Lumar, Taylor, and Wulff will all enroll at Cal Poly in January and participate in 2025 spring practice. The other 11 will join the Mustang program in the fall.
Among the 16 signees are eight three star recruits ranked by at least one of the following: 247Sports, 247Composite, On3, On3 Consensus, Rivals.com and/or ESPN.com.

TE Reese Brooks, Cedar Ridge HS (Texas)
Brooks is a 6-4 tight end from Round Rock, Texas and Cedar Ridge High School. A four-year varsity player, Brooks was named Second Team All-District. As a senior, he accumulated 550 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns. Brooks also competes in basketball and track at Cedar Ridge and has a been a regional contender in the high jump. He holds a 4.0 GPA and plans to major in chemical engineering at Cal Poly.
OL Leo Cocchiglia, Los Gatos HS (Calif.)
A three-star recruit, Cocchiglia stands 6-5 and weighs 265 pounds. He was a First Team All-Peninsula Athletic League while playing for Los Gatos High School. In 13 career games played, Cocchiglia recorded 20 total pancake blocks. He also had offers from Eastern Washington and Idaho.
OL Abu Fofanah, Granite Hills HS (Calif.)
Fofanah is a three star recruit who is originally from Sierra Leone. He came to the United States for high school, landing at Granite Hills High School in Apple Valley, Calif. Fofanah stands 6-4 and weighs 280 pounds. His senior year, he started every game at offensive tackle and played defensive tackle where he totaled 10 tackles.
LB Corbin Frutos, Chaparral HS (Calif.)
Frutos, who stands 6-2 and weighs 210 pounds, was a First Team All-League performer while playing for Chaparral High School in Temecula. A two-time team captain he had 43 tackles, 26 solo and 17 assisted, and two tackles for losses as a junior.
CB Stacy Gentle Jr., Paraclete HS (Calif.)
A three star recruit from Palmdale, Gentle Jr. played at Paraclete High School in Lancaster. He played four years of varsity at Paraclete. In 11 games as a junior, he finished with 52 tackles, three pass deflections, and an interception. He also had offers from Colorado State, Idaho State, and Northern Arizona.
LB Anthony Navarro, Apple Valley HS (Calif.)
The 6-5, 218 pound Navarro played at Apple Valley High School in Northern California where as a senior, he had 65 tackles, 16 tackles for loss, and 10 sacks in 13 games. For his career, he finished with 14.5 sacks and 103 tackles. He helped Apple Valley High School finish top three in its league each season he played.
CB Amarion Orange, Rancho Verde HS (Calif.)
Orange, who stands 6-0 tall, played at Rancho Verde High School in Moreno Valley, Calif. As a senior, he had six pass deflections, 30 tackles, and one interception as a cornerback on defense. On offense as a wide receiver, he had 55 receptions for 1,142 yards, and 18 touchdowns. A strong returner, Orange had two kickoff return touchdowns and 251 return yards.
DE Kaleb Pleis, San Ramon Valley HS (Calif.)
Pleis is a three star recruit standing 6-5 and weighing 215 pounds from Danville, Calif. At San Ramon Valley High School, he had 69 tackles, 27 tackles for loss, and 14 sacks in 25 career games. As a senior, he earned First Team All-League honors after recording 13.5 sacks and 47 tackles. He also had offers from San Diego State, UNLV, and Army.
ATH Omaurie Phillips-Porter, Ukiah HS (Calif.)
Phillips-Porter is a three star recruit who played both cornerback and wide receiver at Ukiah High School in northern California. In 11 games a senior, the 6-1 Philips-Porter had 58 receptions for 744 receiving yards and nine touchdowns on offense. On defense, he finished with three interceptions, including one pick six. As a returner on special teams, he returned two punts for touchdowns. Phillips-Porter, who holds over a 4.0 GPA, also has played basketball the last three years.
LB Shane Ramstad, Vista Murrieta HS (Calif.)
The 6-3, 215 pound Ramstad earned First Team All-League honors as a senior at Vista Murrieta High School in Murrieta, Calif. after recording 40 tackles, nine sacks, and an interception. For his career, he had 12 sacks, 13 tackles for loss, and 79 total tackles as a three year starter. He was also a First Team All-League honoree as a sophomore and Second Team All-League as a junior. Ramstad also has participated in track and field at Vista Murrieta.
ATH Christopher Solis-Lumar, Pasadena HS (Calif.)
Solis-Lumar is a 6-2, 175 pound three star recruit who played both cornerback and wide receiver at Pasadena High School. As a senior on defense, Solis-Lumar had four interceptions in five games played. On offense, he had 12 receptions for 198 yards and three touchdowns. A highly touted recruit, Solis-Lumar was originally committed to Boise State before decommiting last summer. He also had offers from Oregon State, San Diego State, Portland State, and Bethune-Cookman.
WR Myles Tarkington, Etiwanda HS (Calif.)
Tarkington played four years of varsity football for Etiwanda High School in southern California. The 6-3 wide receiver had career totals of 87 receptions, 1,417 yards, and 12 touchdowns in 32 career games as he earned both First Team All-League and Second Team All-League during his career. As a senior, he had 32 receptions for 480 yards and six touchdowns in 10 games. Tarkington also had offers to Montana and Northern Arizona.
ATH Savion Taylor, Pacifica HS (Calif.)
Taylor is a three star recruit who stands at 6-0 and played both wide receiver and defensive back at Pacifica High School in Oxnard. He played four years on varsity and set school records in every receiving category at Pacifica. He was named First Team All-County as he helped lead Pacifica to a 2024 CIF Championship. For his career on offense, he had 194 receptions, 3,106 yards, and 32 touchdowns in 37 games. On defense, he had 59 tackles, seven pass breakups, and two interceptions. Taylor also had offers from Arizona, Arizona State, Boise State, and Cal.
DL Luke Westfall, Cathedral Catholic (Calif.)
Westfall is a three star recruit from Cathedral Catholic High School in San Diego. As a senior, the 6-3, 260 pound Westfall earned All-League and All-CIF honors after recording eight tackles for loss, 7.5 sacks, and 51 total tackles. He helped Cathedral Catholic win a state championship in 2021 and CIF runner up in 2024. He’s been on the honor roll all four years and played rugby. Westfall also had offers from Montana State, Northern Arizona, Penn, and Sacramento State.
QB Sam Wulff, Arroyo Grande HS (Calif.)
Wulff is a San Luis Obispo County local who attends Arroyo Grande High School and is the son of Cal Poly head coach Paul Wulff. The 6-0, 200 quarterback threw for 1,452 yards and had 17 total touchdowns, and a 63 percent completion percentage as a senior which earned him First Team All-League honors.
OL Jon Ybarra, Sanger HS (Calif.)
The 6-2, 390 pound Ybarra is a three star offensive line recruit out of Sanger High School in the central California valley. Ybarra, who benches 315 pounds and squats 535 pounds, had 43 varsity starts on the offensive line since his freshman year at Sanger. He was named his league’s Lineman of the Year in both his junior and senior years. He was also Second Team All-State as both a sophomore and junior. He also had offers from both Army and Air Force.
