SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. — Cal Poly’s final home game of the season will see them host Sacramento State Saturday, Nov. 16. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m. with the game being aired on ESPN+ and on ESPN Radio 1280AM/101.7FM.
The Hornets are 3-7 overall and 1-5 in Big Sky this season. It has been a disappointing season for them coming off a season in 2023 in which they made the FCS playoffs and were ranked No. 10 in the FCS Preseason Poll. They have lost three straight games and five of their last six.
Just like the Mustangs, injuries have hampered Sacramento State. They have had 22 players start on offense and 20 different players start games on defense. Quarterback Carson Conklin leads the offense with 2, 179 passing yards, 21 touchdowns, and seven interceptions. Wide receiver Jared Gipson leads the Hornets in receiving touchdowns with seven.
Defensively, linebacker Will Leota ranks fourth in the Big Sky in tackles with 80. He also leads the Hornets in tackles for loss with 9.5.
As a team, they rank third in the Big Sky in passing offense while defensively they lead the Big Sky in tackles for loss and are second in sacks.
Cal Poly is 20-19 all-time against the Hornets, 13-11 in the Division I era and 5-6 inside the Big Sky. The Mustangs will be looking to snap a streak of four straight losses to Sac State.
