FINAL RESULTS
SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. — Jadyn Snaer, Shelby Daniele, Lexi Evans, Annie Hatzenbeler, Amaya Lopez-Fuller and Corban Payne all posted top-10 marks in school history, and Devon Cetti won a pair of events to highlight a dominant performance by Mustang track and field during Friday's Cal Poly Open.
Cal Poly claimed 26 event victories — 14 by the men, 12 by the women — and countless personal bests were achieved across the board. In their outdoor season opener, the Mustangs put on quite on the show for the hundreds of fans that showed up to the Miller & Capriotti Athletics Complex on Friday.
In the women's 100-meter dash, Snaer soared into Cal Poly's top marks list with a time of 11.63 seconds, tied with Tamela Holland (1982) for the third-fastest in school history. Snaer, the 60-meter school record holder, shaved over .40 seconds off her previous personal best in the event to capture first. Her teammate, Daniele, wasn't far behind. She grabbed second and moved up to No. 7 all-time with a time of 11.78.
Hatzenbeler and Evans finished second and third respectively in the women's pole vault as both cleared 13 feet, 1.5 inches, moving them into a tie with Sydney Jaques (2021) for sixth on Cal Poly's all-time list.
Payne entered Cal Poly's top-10 list in the men's hammer throw, tossing a PR of 183 feet, 7.75 inches, good for No. 8 all-time. The mark allowed him to grab second in the event. Cetti won the event (184-10) and claimed the title in the shot put as well.
Lopez-Fuller also shook up the Mustangs' all-time list, throwing a mark of 162 feet, 11 inches to secure first in the women's discus and move to No. 9 in school history.
Maya Holman and Aspin Oliver, both Vacaville natives, had a tightly-contested battle in the women's 100 hurdles. Holman won the event with a 14.57, while Oliver was just .05 seconds behind her with a 14.62. Both times were PRs.
Lariel Henley (high jump), Natalie Rogers (shot put), Melissa Navarro (javelin), Melody Nwagwu (triple jump), Misty Diaz (800) and Schuyler Gooley (3,000) also earned individual victories for the Cal Poly women. The Mustangs swept both relays as well, and Anisa Rind, Daniele, Nwagwu and Snaer were 0.62 seconds away from the school record in the women's 4x100 with a time of 45.76.
On the men's side, Chase Walter competed in the javelin for the first time in his collegiate career and won the event with a mark of 188-10.
Mathis Bresko, the defending Big West champion, looked strong in the pole vault, clearing 17 feet, 0.75 inches to win the event.
Ryan Searl, a junior transfer from UC Santa Barbara, lead a pack of Mustangs in the 100-meter dash, capturing first with a PR of 10.71 seconds.
Rory Devaney (discus), Tibyasa Matovu (long jump), Bailey Jones (triple jump), Anthony Benitez (1,500), Joey Souto (110 hurdles), Quinton Alexander (800) and MacGregor TeSelle (200) all secured individual victories for the Cal Poly men. The Mustangs also placed first in the 4x100 and 4x400 relays.
