Mustangs Cap Texas Road Trip with 4-2 Victory Over William & Mary

HOUSTON — Cal Poly men's tennis capped its Texas two-step road trip with a 4-2 neutral site win Saturday over William & Mary in Houston.
The Mustangs (4-7) had to do so despite not getting the doubles point. The Tribe came out with 6-4 and 6-3 doubles wins at the No. 1 and No. 2 spots to take the point.
In singles, Cal Poly redshirt junior Colter Smith got the Mustangs on the board after a dominant 6-0, 6-3 victory at the No. 3 spot. William & Mary took the lead back after they won at the No. 5 spot before redshirt junior Joe Leather came out on top at the No. 2 spot, 7-5, 6-2 to tie it up once again at 2-2.
Junior Noah Berry gave the Mustangs their first lead of the match after he was victorious at the No. 1 spot 6-4, 7-6(6) to record his seventh singles victory of the season.
It was then freshman Aaron Eliscu who clinched the dual for Cal Poly, winning 6-4, 7-6(5) at the No. 6 spot to improve his record to 3-2 this year.
The Mustangs will now head to Stockton, Calif. on Wednesday, March 29 to face Pacific at 1 p.m. Cal Poly has won the last eight meetings with the Tigers.
