
Cal Poly Wraps Up Play in The Prestige at La Quinta

FINAL RESULTS
LA QUINTA, Calif. -- Jackson Parrish and Ben Quick carded 79s on a windy Wednesday afternoon at The Prestige on the Greg Norman Course at PGA West.
Those rounds highlighted Cal Poly's performance in the final round of the three-day, 54-hole event on the 7,100-yard par-71 layout.
Parrish finished tied for 91st place with a 231 total while Quick was tied for 101st place at 233.
Cal Poly's other golfers in the field of 24 teams and 120 individuals were Austin Liu, tied for 88th place with a 230 total following a final-round 81; Baron Szeto, tied for 105th place with a 235 total after an 82; and Parker Mapes with a 237 aggregate and a tie for 112th place following his 83.
The field included five of the nation's top 25 teams, according to Golfstat's poll of Division I schools.
No. 15 Pepperdine edged third-ranked Texas Tech and No. 6 Stanford for the team title. Also in the field were No. 21 Baylor and No. 22 Colorado State.
Pepperdine finished with an eight-under-par 844 total, six strokes ahead of Texas Tech. Stanford's 857 aggregate placed the Cardinal third.
Individual champion was Ludvig Aberg of Texas Tech with a final-round 70 for a six-under-par 207 total, one shot ahead of Pepperdine's William Mouw. Second-round leader Michael Thorbjornsen of Stanford and Tyran Snyders of Texas Tech shared third place at four under par.
Tuesday's second round was suspended with 12 teams still on the course, due to darkness. Cal Poly's five players had three to six holes to finish before the third round began with a 10:30 a.m. shotgun start.
After 36 holes, Cal Poly was 22nd with a 38-over-par 606 total and Liu was the top Mustang on the leaderboard, tied for 68th place with rounds of 73 and 76.
In a separate tournament for individuals only, Cal Poly's Joey Zambri finished 28th in the field of 49 golfers, carding rounds of 72, 80 and 75 at the Golf Club at Terra Lago, also in La Quinta, for an 11-over-par 227 total.
After a four-week layoff, Cal Poly returns to action March 27-28 at The Duck hosted by Oregon at the Eugene Country Club in Eugene, Oregon.
