Cal Poly Drops Match to Dons

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. — Delanie Dunkle secured her second singles victory of the season, but Cal Poly women's tennis suffered a 4-1 defeat to University of San Francisco on Sunday at the Mustang Tennis Complex.
In doubles play, the Mustangs fell at the No. 3 spot before Delanie Dunkle and Peyton Dunkle earned their third win of the season at the No. 1 spot, 6-3, to keep Cal Poly's hopes of grabbing the doubles point alive.
At the No. 2 doubles spot, Kim Bhunu and Kennedy Buntrock battled hard, but fell 7-5 in a tight tiebreaker, allowing the Dons to take the doubles point.
Cal Poly lost at the No. 6 and No. 2 singles, before Delanie Dunkle kept the Mustangs in the match with a 6-2, 7-6 (7-2) win at the No. 4 spot.
Kim Bhunu put forth a valiant effort at the No. 1 spot, but fell in three sets. The result allowed San Francisco to clinch the match.
Cal Poly (1-5) wraps up its three-match homestand at noon Wednesday when they host Mississippi State.
