ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The Cal Poly women's indoor track and field team impressed on the final day of the Don Kirby Elite Invitational on Saturday as the 4x400-meter relay team posted a top-five mark and Jadyn Snaer (pictured above), Shelby Daniele and Maya Holman all shined.
Snaer and Daniele continued to shred up the school record book in the women's 60-meter dash. Snaer shaved .03 seconds off the program record she broke at the Air Force Ralph Lindeman Invitational on Jan. 20, running a 7.468 second time at altitude to finish in a tie for 14th overall. Daniele, No. 2 all-time in the event, ran a PR in the 60 for the third time this spring with a 7.618. The performance came a day after Daniele obliterated the school record in the indoor 200-meter.
In the women's 4x400, Aspin Oliver, Cassidy Hubert, Belle Aduaka and Katelyn Carro powered Cal Poly to the third-fastest indoor time in school history (3:50.31).
Holman, a sophomore, moved up to No. 4 all-time in the women's 60-meter hurdles, recording a time of 8.83 seconds. Shimona Draper also posted a PR in the event (9.09) while Aspin Oliver ran a 9.08.
In the women's shot put, Natalie Rogers tossed an indoor PR of 42 feet, 2.25 inches. Amaya Lopez-Fuller (40-10.5) and Isabella Rigby (37-6.75) also competed in the event. Annie Hatzenbeler cleared 12 feet, 4 inches in the pole vault.
On the men's side, three Mustangs ran the 60-meter. Ryan Searl, a junior transfer from UC Santa Barbara, posted a time of 6.90 seconds in his first indoor meet. Tyler Esteves (6.93) and Noah Bustos (7.24) also participated in the event.
Chris Davis, Joey Souto, Chase Walter and Wesley Salzman helped the men run a time of 3:14.73 in the 4x400 relay. Souto competed in the 60-meter hurdles for the first time and recorded a time of 8.81 seconds, establishing a new Division I school record.
In the men's shot put, Corban Payne tossed a mark of 51-5.75 — a new Division I indoor program record — and Devon Cetti recorded a mark of 49-3.75.
Now Cal Poly will determine how many athletes they want to send to the Ken Shannon Last Chance Invite on Feb. 24-25 at Dempsey Indoor in Seattle.
