BERKELEY, Calif. — Juniors Eliza Bates (pictured above) and Romane Mosse captured the White bracket doubles title to highlight action for the Cal Poly women's tennis team during the season-opening Cal Fall Invitational hosted by the Golden Bears.
Bates and Mosse posted a pair of 8-6 victories in the Round of 16 and quarterfinals, and took down Cal's Cami Brown and Berta Passola Folch in the semifinals 8-4 to advance to the championship in the White bracket. There the duo defeated a doubles pairing from BYU to claim the title.
In singles, sophomore Kennedy Buntrock, an All-Big West Second Team selection in doubles last season, had an impressive showing only dropping one match at the tournament.
Fifth year Delanie Dunkle, junior Peyton Dunkle, sophomore Amy Leather, freshman Natalie Lynch, sophomore Sarah MacCallum and Bates also posted singles victories during the three-day invitational.
The Mustangs continue their fall season on Oct. 13-17 when they compete in the ITA Northwest Regionals hosted by Stanford.
