Mustangs Fall to Arkansas Sunday in Ann Arbor

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – Mustang junior Noah Berry picked up his first singles win of the season and the doubles tandem of redshirt junior Joe Leather and sophomore Bastiaan Weststrate earned their first doubles win of the year but the Cal Poly men's tennis fell to Arkansas Sunday 4-1 in the finale of the season-opening ITA Kick-Off Weekend in Ann Arbor, Mich.
In doubles, the Razorbacks started things off with a win at the No. 2 spot before Leather and Weststrate evened things up with a 6-4 victory at the No. 1 spot. Arkansas took the doubles point after a 6-3 win at the No. 3 spot.
In singles, Arkansas took a 2-0 lead in the match after a win at the No. 5 spot. Berry, ranked No. 55 in the country in singles, then got the Mustangs (0-2) on the board after he defeated Savva Stefanos at the No. 1 spot in straight sets, 6-2, 7-6(4).
The Razorbacks went up 3-1 after a win at the No. 2 spot before clinching the dual with a victory at the No. 6 spot.
Cal Poly will continue its season-opening road trip next weekend when traveling to Utah to face BYU Friday, Feb. 3 at 10 a.m. PT before a match against the University of Utah Sunday, Feb. 5 at 10 a.m. PT.
