Snaer Shatters School Record, 3 Others Post Top 5 Marks on Day 2 of Lindeman Invitational

AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. — Junior Jadyn Snaer (pictured above) shattered the school record in the 60-meter dash and junior Shelby Daniele, sophomore Anna Grexton and freshman Lexi Evans all posted top five marks in program history to highlight action for the Cal Poly women's indoor track & field team during the second day of the Air Force Ralph Lindeman Invitational on Friday.
As a team, the Mustangs sit in fourth place with 16 points.
In the prelims of the 60-meter dash, Snaer lit up the track with her speed, running a blistering time of 7.51 seconds. She blew past the previous school record of 7.68 set by Daijah Joe-Smith in 2015. The time was also the third fastest in prelims.
Daniele wasn't far behind Snaer in the 60, winning the third heat with a time of 7.66 seconds. Daniele surpassed the previous school record holder and now sits in solo second on Cal Poly's all-time list in the event.
With their performances, Daniele and Snaer both qualified for the finals in the event, which are scheduled to start at 12:10 p.m. Saturday. Sophomore Melody Nwagwu, who ran a personal best of 7.83, missed out on qualifying for the finals by 0.03 seconds.
Aspin Oliver (8.05) and Melissa Navarro (8.31) also raced in the 60 and posted PRs.
In her first collegiate meet, Evans captured second in the pole vault with a mark of 12 feet, 9.5 inches, good for fifth best in program history. Junior Annie Hatzenbeler earned fifth (11-11.75).
In the first event of the day for the Mustangs, Grexton set the tone with a toss of 45 feet, ¼ inch in the weight throw to place 13th. Grexton, who is No. 5 on Cal Poly's all-time list in the event, added 7 inches to her previous personal best.
Five Mustangs competed in the 200-meter. Daniele led the way finishing 11th in prelims with a time of 25.38 seconds, just 0.06 seconds off her PR of 25.32 (No. 5 in program history). Snaer earned 13th with a PR of 25.68, junior Anisa Rind took 22nd (26.01) and junior Belle Aduaka grabbed 36th (26.74). Navarro, the defending Big West javelin champion, ran a 27.81 in her first career 200.
Junior Cassidy Hubert qualified for the finals in the 400-meter, running the fifth-fastest time in prelims (59.52). She will race at 11:50 a.m. Saturday.
Despite getting injured, junior Shimona Draper was still able to post a PR in the prelims of the 60-meter hurdles (9.13) and place 21st. Oliver secured a 24th-place finish in prelims (9.22).
In the long jump, Nwagwu captured 15th (17-11.5) and Navarro established a PR of 14-11.5.
During the final day of the Ralph Lindeman Invitational on Saturday, Amaya Lopez-Fuller, Isabella Rigby and Natalie Rogers are set to make their season debuts in the women's shot put, Daniele, Hubert and Snaer will race in the finals of their events and the Mustangs will compete in the 4x400 relay.
