CAL POLY VERSUS CSU BAKERSFIELD: The Mustangs grabbed a 3-0 home victory over the Roadrunners a year ago and outshot them 27-1 in the first Big West matchup between the two programs. Cal Poly has won seven straight meetings with CSU Bakersfield and leads the all-time series 10-1-0. The Roadrunners only victory over the Mustangs came on Sept. 6, 2009.
SCOUTING THE ROADRUNNERS: CSU Bakersfield, who was picked to finish last in the Big West Preseason Coaches' Poll, opened conference play Sept. 15 with a 3-0 home over CSUN and is winless in its last three matches, drawing with Sacramento State 2-2 on Sept. 18, falling at Long Beach State 3-0 last Thursday and playing to a scoreless draw at UC Irvine on Sunday. Junior midfielder Regielly Halldorsdottir leads the Roadrunners in points with seven, tallying three goals and an assist. Sophomore forward Karen Flores was named to the 11-player Big West Preseason All-Conference Team and has two goals and two assists this season, along with freshman forward Jette Zimmer, who is tied for fifth in the conference in shots on goal per game. The Roadrunners rank second in the conference in goals allowed (25) and third in fouls committed per match (11.27).
CAL POLY VERSUS CSUN: The Mustangs and Matadors are deadlocked in the all-time series at 9-9-3. Last year, Cal Poly cruised to its first victory over CSUN since 2018 with a 3-0 home win on Oct. 10, 2021. The Mustangs are seeking their first road win over CSUN since Oct. 10, 2013.
SCOUTING THE MATADORS: Entering Thursday's match against the Gauchos, CSUN is still seeking its first Big West win of the season, suffering losses to CSU Bakersfield and Cal State Fullerton and earning a 1-1 draw at UC Davis on Sunday. Selected to finish 10th in the Big West Preseason Coaches' Poll, the Matadors two victories this season came at Cal Baptist on Aug. 20 and at home against Portland State on Sept. 18.
