
Mustangs Produce Pair of Shutouts in Sunday Doubleheader

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. — The Cal Poly women's tennis team had a pair of dominant performances in its doubleheader Sunday, shutting out both Seattle University and Fresno Pacific by scores of 4-0 at Mustang Tennis Complex to push their win streak to three straight.
Against Seattle University, the Mustangs (8-4) started off the match by taking the doubles point after the No. 1 duo of redshirt juniors Kim Bhunu and Emily Ackerman won 6-0 followed by a 6-2 win at the No. 3 spot by graduate Laura Bente and freshman Peyton Dunkle.
In singles, Peyton Dunkle made quick work at the No. 6 spot of Jillian Rasmussen, blanking her, 6-0, 6-0.
Older sister Delanie Dunkle followed that up with a 6-1, 6-1 victory at the No. 5 spot over Aranza Sanabria.
The dual was then clinched after Ackerman won in straight sets over Hannah Grossman 6-2, 6-1.

A few hours later against Fresno Pacific, Cal Poly once again took the doubles point after Bente and Peyton Dunkle won at the No. 3 spot, 6-0, and Delanie Dunkle and Melissa LaMette won at the No. 2 spot, 6-1.
Delanie Dunkle and LaMette are now 6-2 together this season. Ackerman and Bhunu have the best doubles record on the team at 9-4.
In singles, Bhunu had a dominant straight sets win at the No. 1 spot over Maria Borodii 6-1, 6-0. Bhunu is now 8-5 and has won five matches in a row.
Delanie Dunkle then made it 3-0 Mustangs after she won her third straight match at the No. 4 spot over Alice Marques, 6-3, 6-0.
The match was clinched for Cal Poly by Ackerman after she beat Alice Di Matteo at the No. 3 spot, 6-1, 6-1.
The Mustangs are a perfect 5-0 so far at home this season. They will look to extend that streak when they face Santa Clara Tuesday at 11 a.m. from Mustang Tennis Complex.
