On March 31, Cal Poly to Launch First Spring Camp in Three Years

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. -- Cal Poly's first Spring Football Camp in three years begins Thursday, March 31, at Doerr Family Field.
Last year's spring camp was replaced by a six-game spring football schedule, a result of the canceled 2020 football season. The 2020 spring camp was canceled when the Big Sky Conference halted all football activities on March 12 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Cal Poly's 88 returning players and a small number of newcomers will step onto the Doerr Family Field Turf at 9 a.m. with helmets only on the final day of March for the first of 15 spring practice sessions.
Full pads are allowed for the third practice on April 5. Junior Day is scheduled for April 23 and the Spring Game is set for Saturday, April 30, at noon, also at Doerr Family Field.
Alex G. Spanos Stadium is not available due to the ongoing installation of artificial turf. That project is scheduled to be completed in time for Spring Commencement.
Coach Beau Baldwin's Mustangs will practice each Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday through the month of April. The squad also will practice Friday, April 22. All practices begin at 9 a.m. with the exception of Junior Day and the Spring Game, both set for noon.
Cal Poly's 2022 schedule features five home games and six on the road. The Mustangs open the campaign Sept. 3 at Fresno State and play their first home game Sept. 10 against San Diego.
