Dunkle Sisters Still Alive in Doubles Main Draw at ITA Northwest Regionals

STANFORD, Calif. — Redshirt junior Delanie Dunkle and sophomore Peyton Dunkle advanced to the Round of 16 in doubles play Saturday to highlight action for Cal Poly women's tennis on Day 3 of the ITA Northwest Regionals hosted by Stanford.
The Dunkle sisters teamed up to take down a doubles pair from Fresno State 8-6. They will face Sarah-Maude Fortin and Astrid Olsen, an eighth-seeded doubles pair from Washington, in the Round of 16 at 10 a.m. Sunday with a spot in the regional quarterfinals up for grabs.
Graduate student Kim Bhunu and freshman Kennedy Buntrock saw their run in the main draw of doubles play come to an end in the Round of 32 when they lost to the fourth-seeded pair from Cal 8-1.
Bhunu and Peyton Dunkle both fell in their Round of 32 singles matches Saturday.
In consolation singles matches, sophomores Misha Berry and Eliza Bates both earned victories to advance to the consolation Round of 32.
The Cal Poly doubles team of Berry and junior Shreya Ravilla won their consolation match Saturday 8-5.
Action from the ITA Northwest Regional resumes Sunday morning and continues through Tuesday.
