Tjerrild Takes 15th at NCAA Championship Pole Vault Prelims

COLLEGE STATION, Texas — Cal Poly's Brooke Tjerrild finished in 15th place for the women's pole vault at the Prelims of the NCAA Track & Field Championships on Thursday, leading the Mustangs on Day 2 of the West Regional meet in Cushing Stadium.
Tjerrild cleared a height of 13 feet and 8.25 inches on her third attempt at Texas A&M (4.17m).
Earlier this season, Tjerrild broke Big West and school pole vault records with her jump of 14' 0" on May 1, prior to winning a third straight conference title.
Also Thursday, teammate Kayla Myers added a 40th-place finish, vaulting 12' 10.25". Myers, also a two-time all-conference selection, will graduate No. 3 all-time among Mustang pole-vaulters, at 13' 7".
Tuesdi Tidwell of Baylor and Arkansas' Lauren Martinez tied for the regional title, both clearing 14' 0" with no misses for the duration. Qualifiers finishing in the Top 12 per event advance to the NCAA Finals, at Oregon from June 9-12.
Molly Ross also competed in the women's 100m hurdles first round, finishing 43rd overall with a time of 13.64 seconds. Danae Dyer from San Diego State earned the final spot in qualifying for the quarterfinal round, clocking 13.31.
Ross, the 2021 Big West champion for the event and a three-time Conference Athlete of the Week Award recipient this spring, graduates ranked third in school history, with a PR of 13.55 at the West Coast Relays.
Emily Hallett — originally scheduled to compete to start the morning — saw the first round of the women's hammer throw re-scheduled for Friday. She'll have three throws with the first flight at 11 a.m. CDT.
Hallett broke her own school record at the Big West Finals on May 13, reaching 193' 0" to win the conference championship. Action continues through Saturday, with SEC Network televising through ESPN+.
