Cal Poly Men’s Soccer Signs Five to National Letters of Intent

SAN LUIS OBISPO – Covering all areas of the Alex G. Spanos Stadium pitch, five prospective Mustangs recently signed National Letters of Intent with the Cal Poly men's soccer program.
Expected to arrive ahead of Cal Poly's August 2022 preseason camp are forward Luke Schaefer (Chandler, Ariz./Phoenix Rising FC), midfielder Jackson Miller (San Diego, Calif./Albion SC), defenders Gianluca Dimauro (Petaluma, Calif./Santa Rosa United) and Carson Spahr (Los Osos, Calif./Santa Barbara SC) and goalkeeper Nicholas McCune (San Ramon, Calif./San Ramon FC).
Luke Schaefer (F)
At club level for Phoenix Rising FC, the 6-1 Schaefer helped his U-16 squad to a 2018-19 Elite Clubs National League Southwest Conference title. A two-year letterwinner for Hamilton HS, Schaefer was named to the All-Arizona 6A team as a sophomore for the 2019-20 season after leading the state in scoring with 15 goals.
A four-year honor roll selection at Hamilton HS, Schaefer intends to major in business.
Jackson Miller (MF)
Recently one of just 25 players to earn United Soccer Coaches Youth All-America praise, Miller is four-star prospect and ranked No. 29 among midfielders in the class of 2022 by TopDrawSoccer.com. A former trialist with Arsenal, Miller has helped MLS Next Southwest Conference member side Albion SC to a No. 8 national ranking. For the 2019 term, Miller finished with seven goals in 13 games.
Academically, Miller – a four-year honor roll selection at Patrick Henry HS, an AP Scholar with Distinction honoree and a National Merit semifinalist selection – intends to major in economics.
Gianluca Dimauro (D)
A four-year captain with Santa Rosa United, Dimauro was an All-Elite Clubs National League NorCal Conference first team selection for the 2020-21 season. Twice previously invited to the United States Soccer Federation identification training camp, Dimauro has scored 25 goals and provided 11 assists in his last four years with Santa Rosa United.
A four-year varsity starter between Cardinal Newman HS (current) and Petaluma HS, Dimauro has enjoyed 16 goals and collected 20 assists in his prep career. Dimauro intends to major in business and minor in Italian.
Carson Spahr (D)
A starter for Santa Barbara Soccer Club's 03 Elite side, Spahr has helped the program to a Coast Soccer League Premier title and a United States Soccer Developmental Academy national semifinal appearance.
Through three seasons at Morro Bay HS, Spahr has scored 16 times and produced 21 assists. An All-Ocean League first team honoree as a junior, Spahr intends to major in communications.
Nicholas McCune (GK)
A member of San Ramon FC, McCune is also a three-year letterwinner for California HS. McCune intends to major in kinesiology.
