Mustangs Drop Close Match to Tulane, 4-3

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. – A day after sweeping Portland 7-0, the Cal Poly men's tennis team lost to Tulane on Sunday afternoon, 4-3 on the Mustang Courts.
The Green Wave set the tone for a day of close sets when it clinched the doubles point, thanks to Idan Mark and Dominik Koepfer edging Andre Dome and Jordan Bridge 8-6.
The 67th-ranked Mustangs (7-6) started singles play with a 6-2, 6-2 triumph from Naveen Beasley over Alex Van Cott.
Tulane (11-4), however, looking for its seventh consecutive dual victory, prevailed in the next two singles matchups, before Dome, the ITA's 30th-ranked player, bounced back against Koepfer for a 4-6, 6-1, 6-0 win.
Marco Comuzzo (right) also rallied for the Mustangs, deadlocking the match by defeating Joe Young 6-7 (4), 6-4, 6-3. But in the final matchup of the day, Mark came back from a first-set loss to Bridge to win 4-6, 6-2, 6-1 for the Green Wave.
The Mustangs will head to Las Vegas for a pair of non-conference matches later this week, against Nevada (6-4) at 11 a.m. Friday and then at No. 71 UNLV (9-4) at 11 a.m. Saturday.
