SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. — Head Coach Nick Carless, Associate Head Coach Jurgen De Jager, and the Mustangs are excited to announce they have signed high profile French amateur Evan Simon.
From Cannes, France, Simon is an accomplished player in the ITF Junior circuit, cracking the top-100 as recently as January 2026. Simon represented the France Junior National Team at the Summer Cup in 2024. Simon also joins the growing list of quality international Mustang signees with national team experience and comes to the program as a first year with full eligibility.
Prior to Cal Poly, Simon had trained at the Elite Tennis Center Cannes, the academy of Jean-Rene Lisnard, a former top-100 player in the world (2003). His long-term goal is to eventually join the professional circuit, represent France in the Davis Cup, and compete in the Olympic Games.
“Evan has a strong background on the court, coming out of France, and he broke the top-100 in the ITF junior rankings, making him one of the best young players in the world for his graduating class,” Coach Carless spoke glowingly of the incoming freshman.
”He has a strong all-court game, highlighted by his lefty forehand, movement and competitive mentality. We are so excited to have him joining the Stampede this fall.”
