
Marco Comuzzo Wins Thriller as Cal Poly Defeats Nevada, 4-3

LAS VEGAS, NV – Junior Marco Comuzzo won a thrilling three set match and was the deciding point in Cal Poly's, 4-3, win over Nevada in a non-conference tennis match on Friday at the Fertitta Tennis Complex on the campus of UNLV.
With the win, the 62nd-ranked Mustangs improve to 8-6 on the year while Nevada falls to 8-7. Cal Poly will play, host UNLV on Saturday.
With the match tied, Comuzzo, playing on the second court, came back after trailing 4-0 in the third set and fought off three match points to pick up a 7-6 win. Comuzzo lost the first set, 7-6, and battled back in the second to win 7-6 setting up the decisive third set.
Cal Poly took the doubles point with Comuzzo and Matt Thomson winning, 8-5, on the second court and Gannon Daynes and Derek Klein winning, 8-1, on the third.
Andre Dome and Naveen Beasley lost, 8-6, to Robert Allan and Moex Chargui on the first court.
With the doubles point decided, Klein put the Mustangs up 2-0 with a straight set, 6-2 and 7-5, win over Allan on the third court. Dome, ranked 22nd in the nation, backed him up with a 7-5, 6-1 win on the first court over Moez Chargui.
Nevada fought back to win the next three singles matches on the fourth, fifth and sixth courts to even the match. Andrew Poustie defeated Beasley 6-4 and 6-4 while Ryan Andrada defeated Thomson, 7-5 and 7-6.
Daynes lost a tough three set match to Philip Hinojosa, 6-3, 5-7 and 6-4.
