
No. 47 Mustangs Defeat Pacific in Rain Shortened Match, 4-1

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. – The Cal Poly men's tennis team remained unbeaten in Big West Conference play with a 4-1, rain shortened, win over Pacific on Saturday at Mustang Courts.
With the win the 47th-ranked Mustangs improve to 3-0 in conference play and 11-5 overall while Pacific falls to 6-10 and 1-1 in Big West play.
The Mustangs will return to the courts on April 7 when they travel to No. 31 Santa Clara.
With impending weather on the horizon, the match opened with singles play. Andre Dome, ranked 20th in the nation, opened play with a dominating two-set win over Ivan Castro, 6-1, 6-0.
Sophomore Marco Comuzzo backed it up on the fifth court with a 7-5, 6-2 win over Erik Cederwall and Jurgen De Jager gave the Mustangs a 3-0 lead with a 6-3, 6-4 win over Alex Hamilton on the sixth court.
Ben Mirkin picked up Pacific's lone win on the second court with a 6-4, 6-4 win over Matt Fawcett while Brian McPhee secured the win for the Mustangs on the third court with a three set win over Alex Golding.
McPhee dropped the first set 6-4, but battled back to pick up the next two, 6-2 and 6-4.
The match on the fourth court was tied up with each player, Jordan Bridge and Valentim Goncalves, winning a set when the match was called with outcome decided.
Doubles was not played due to the rain.
