James Emma, a defensive lineman at Cal Lutheran from 2009-12 and an assistant defensive line coach for the Kingsmen in 2013 and 2014, is in his third season at Cal Poly helping defensive coordinator Josh Brown with the outside linebackers. Emma also is the team's travel coordinator.
Emma notched 22 tackles, including 3.5 for lost yardage, and intercepted a pass at the goal line against Claremont-Mudd-Scripps as a senior in 2012 at Cal Lutheran before becoming an assistant coach with the Kingsmen. He graduated in 2013 with a degree in accounting.
Emma is a 2009 graduate of St. Bonaventure High School in Ventura, where he earned first-team All-Channel League, All-Ventura County and All-CIF-Southern Section honors.
