Allen Brown, a defensive back at Eastern Washington from 2010-13 and a two-time All-Big Sky Conference honoree, was hired in August 2015 as an assistant coach in charge of the cornerbacks at Cal Poly.
Brown, 26, recorded 237 total tackles, intercepted four passes and broke up 15 more passes in a school-record 51 games during his career with the Eagles, playing on Big Sky Conference championship teams in 2010, 2012 and 2013 as a strong safety. He was a team captain during his senior season, collecting 56 tackles, forcing one fumble and recovering two more while intercepting a pair of passes, both against Western Oregon, en route to All-Big Sky honorable mention praise.
As a junior in 2012, Brown notched 91 tackles and broke up seven passes on his way to second-team All-Big Sky honors. He had 39 tackles and one interception as a freshman and 51 more tackles and another interception as a sophomore. The 2010 Eagles captured the NCAA Division I Football Champion-ship Subdivision national title.
Brown recorded double-digit tackles in six games, including a career-high 11 against Montana in 2012 and 10 more against Cal Poly in 2011, a 53-51 triple-overtime Eagle victory. He is a 2009 graduate of Foss High School in Tacoma, Wash., where he was a wide receiver and defensive back in football and also competed in basketball and track and field.
Born in Anchorage, Alaska, Brown earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration (management) at Eastern Washington in 2014.
He was a strength and conditioning intern at Eastern Washington in 2014 and also assisted with the secondary, helped implement weekly defensive game plans and broke down film for defense and special teams.
