SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. — Cal Poly STUNT has been announced as a member of the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF). The landmark announcement ensures a conference standing for Cal Poly starting in 2027 season, which will be a historic campaign for the sport.
The 2027 STUNT season will be the first to see the sport be competed as an NCAA championship sport. That announcement was made at the 2026 NCAA Convention after a vote of approval from NCAA member institutions.
With the addition of STUNT, the MPSF now sponsors 17 Intercollegiate Olympic sports, which is the most ever offered by the conference. STUNT is the eighth sport to be added to the MPSF under commissioner Foti Mellis, who has been in that position since the fall of 2021. The MPSF STUNT conference will feature four teams, as CBU is joined by Cal Poly, UC Davis, and the University of the Pacific.
" I am incredibly excited for us to join the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation as Cal Poly STUNT enters a new era in NCAA Division I,” said Cal Poly STUNT head coach Annette Laron-Pickett. “This is a tremendous opportunity for our student-athletes to be in a strong conference home with outstanding competition. We look forward to representing Cal Poly with pride and help continue the grown of STUNT at the collegiate level."
Cal Poly joins the MPSF following its inaugural season as a Division I program. The Mustangs saw tremendous success this past year, going 13-7 and reaching the national championship semifinals. They also held a top three Division I ranking all season long.
