Mustang Track & Field Travels to SoCal for 3 Meets

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. — A jam-packed week lies ahead for the Cal Poly track and field program as the Mustangs are set to split the team across three different meets in Southern California this Thursday through Saturday.
Cal Poly’s distance runners will compete in the prestigious Bryan Clay Invitational Thursday-Saturday, the Mustangs’ sprinters, jumpers and pole vaulters will take part in the 66th Mt. SAC Relays on Friday and Saturday and the throwers will be in action at the Beach Invitational on Friday and Saturday.
Action for the Mustangs gets underway at 7 a.m. Thursday when Ashlyn Leath races in the open section of the women’s 10,000-meter at the Bryan Clay Invitational hosted by Azusa Pacific.
A total of 24 Mustangs are competing at Bryan Clay, over 15 at Mt. SAC and 13 at the Beach, the site for this year’s Big West Championships.
Currently, six Mustangs own top-25 marks recorded in the NCAA this season — Travis Martin (No. 3 men’s hammer throw), Aidan McCarthy (No. 11 men’s 1,500; No. 21 men’s 800), Conrad Bernstein (No. 20 men’s javelin), Lexi Evans (No. 20 women’s pole vault), Ben Feyrer (No. 22 men’s pole vault) and Carson Smith (No. 25 men’s 800). All six will be in action this week along with a slew of other Mustangs looking to shake up the Cal Poly record books.

Following this week’s action, Cal Poly travels down the Central Coast to take part in the UCSB Invite on April 24-25.
