DALLAS, Texas — Cal Poly STUNT finished off its road trip to Texas on Saturday, splitting a pair of games inside The Burg Center.
First, the Mustangs battled host Dallas Baptist. Cal Poly fought incredibly hard and was within two deduction errors of the Patriots for 50 percent of the game, but DBU was able to pull away for a 30-24 win.
Cal Poly completed its trip to Texas with a dramatic game against the University of Texas. In the fourth quarter and team routine portion of the game, the Mustangs trailed by 5 points with only three rounds of play left and 9 total points available for the rest of the game. But the Mustangs — who are known for making comebacks in the fourth quarter thanks to their stellar team routine — found a way to tie the game at 27-27 and force overtime. In overtime, the Mustangs prevailed 28-27 over the Longhorns.
Cal Poly, ranked fourth in the country in the Division I STUNT rankings, improved to 5-3 on the season with Saturday’s results.
The Mustangs hit the road again on March 6-7 for four games in Rocklin, Calif. Cal Poly takes on Fresno Pacific and Kentucky on Friday, March 6, and Vanguard University and UC Davis on Saturday, March 7.
