
Cal Poly Travels Back to Seattle to Compete in UW Invite, Mile City

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. — The Cal Poly track and field team heads back to Seattle for the second time this indoor season to compete in the UW Invitational and coveted Mile City on Friday and Saturday at Dempsey Indoor.
Action gets underway at 10 a.m. Friday with the UW Invitational. Twenty-four Mustangs are set to take part in the meet Friday, that features a full slate of running and field events with the exception of the mile. The mile will be the focal point of the third annual Mile City meet on Saturday, with countless heats of the mile scheduled to be run from 9 a.m. until about 6 p.m. Saturday will also feature invite sections of several key field events, including the men’s and women’s pole vault and women’s triple jump.
In total, 35 Mustangs will compete across the two days of action. Live results can be found HERE and the meet can be seen live on RunnerSpace+ with the purchase of a subscription.
In Cal Poly’s last trip to Seattle on Jan. 16-17, the Mustangs shredded the school record books, recording 17 top-five marks in program history. The meet was highlighted by a school-record breaking performance by junior Jordan Jackson in the women’s 600-meter.
Some of the other notable athletes competing for the Mustangs this week include Madison Easter (women’s 60, 200), Ava Simos (women’s 60, 200), Tatiana Cornejo (women’s mile), Kelli Gaffney (women’s 3,000), Lexi Evans (women’s pole vault), Melody Nwagwu (women’s triple jump), Taylor Hofland (women’s shot put), Vincent Atilano (men’s 400), Chris Caudillo (men’s mile), Spencer Pickren (men’s mile), Carson Smith (men’s mile), Ben Feyrer (men’s pole vault) and Aiden Pastorian (men’s shot put).
Cal Poly heads back to Dempsey Indoor for the final time this indoor season on Feb. 13-14 to take part in the Husky Classic.
