SANTA BARBARA – Junior guard Jake Davis finished with a team high 11 points Thursday evening, but UC Santa Barbara shot 66.7 percent from the floor and led wire-to-wire as the Cal Poly men’s basketball program fell inside The Thunderdome, 107-67.
Sophomore guard Hamad Mousa added 10 points for Cal Poly (7-13, 3-5), which shot 46.9 (23-for-49) percent Thursday, but fell behind by double digits early after UC Santa Barbara (12-7, 5-3) produced an 82.1 (23-for-28) percent first-half shooting mark.
The Gauchos opened Thursday’s matchup by sinking nine of their first 10 attempts from the floor and all three three-point attempts to lead after six minutes, 21-5. Davis produced a jumper for Cal Poly to break a six-minute field goal drought and the Mustangs eventually cut their deficit to 31-21 with eight minutes remaining in the half.
The Gauchos, however, closed the half with a 28-12 run and – shooting 76.9 (10-for-13) percent from three-point range – led at the break, 59-33.
UC Santa Barbara then registered the first two buckets of the second half to further the advantage to 30.

- Having scored in double digits through all 19 appearances, Hamad Mousa maintained the Big West scoring lead at 20.9 points per game.
- Aaron Price, Jr. finished with a season high eight points in 12 reserve minutes.
