
No. 6 Mustangs Begin Chase for Big West Title Thursday

SANTA MONICA, Calif. - After ending the regular season with an impressive 26-6 record, the No. 6 nationally ranked Cal Poly beach volleyball team is set to begin its postseason journey at the Big West Championship in Santa Monica.
Cal Poly enters the tournament on a four-match winning streak, including recent victories over No. 17 North Florida and Southern Mississippi at the Lone Star Invitational in Austin, Texas.
The Mustangs will begin the tournament as the No. 1 seed this week, and will begin pool play on Thursday, facing No. 5 seed UC Davis at 12 p.m., followed by a match against No. 4 seed CSUN at 2:30 p.m.
Thursday’s match results will determine Friday’s matchups, with the championship match scheduled for 2:15 p.m.

The Mustangs had several pairs shine this season. Izzy Martinez and Logan Walter led with a 25-7 record and a 14-match winning streak. Erin Inskeep and Piper Ferch went 24-6, while Ella Connor and Madi Nichols finished with a 14-5 record. Three Mustang pairs also earned Big West Pair of the Week honors throughout the season.
The Mustangs are aiming to secure their fourth Big West Championship title, having previously won in 2019, 2021, and 2022.
