No. 6 Mustangs Begin Big West Championship with Pair of Wins

SANTA MONICA, Calif. – Cal Poly beach volleyball put on an impressive performance at day one of the Big West Championship Thursday, sweeping both of their matches to advance to the Semifinals.
The No. 6 Mustangs (28-6), who are the top seed in the Big West Championship, beat No. 5 seed UC Davis 5-0 before also sweeping No. 4 seed CSUN 5-0 later in the day.
Cal Poly’s No. 1 pair of Erin Inskeep and Piper Ferch won both of their matches to become the program’s all-time winningest pair with 56 career victories. They are now 26-6 this year.
Cal Poly’s No. 2 pair of izzy Martinez and Logan Walter won both of their matches to extend their win streak to six and improve to 27-7 this season. The No 3 pair of Lindsey Sparks and Quinn Perry moved their record together to 10-3 after winning both their matches in three sets.
The No. 4 pair of Madi Nichols and Ella Connor moved to 16-5 on the year after winning in both matches. The No. 5 duo of Abbey Reinard and Elise Lenahan rounded things out with two wins to push their record up to 17-4.
The Big West Championship concludes Friday with the Mustangs facing the winner of Cal State Bakersfield and CSUN in the semifinals at 11 a.m. The winner then moves on to the championship match at 2:15 p.m.
