No. 6 Mustangs Win Final Two Regular Season Matches; Rogers Reaches Career Milestone

AUSTIN – The No. 6 ranked Cal Poly beach volleyball team capped its regular season with two more wins Saturday at the Lone Star Invitational as head coach Todd Rogers reached the 200 career wins milestone.
The No. 6 Mustangs (26-6) started the day with a 5-0 win over No. 17 North Florida before closing out the event with a 3-0 victory over Southern Miss.
Against Southern Miss, Cal Poly’s No. 2, No. 4, and No. 3 pairs all won to clinch the dual. With the Mustangs’ No. 1 and No. 5’s having won their first sets, the match was called due to incoming weather before those two matches could finish.
Cal Poly’s No. 1 pair of Erin Inskeep and Piper Ferch finished the regular season with a record of 24-6. The No. 2 pair of Izzy Martinez and Logan Walter are 25-7 heading into postseason play. The No. 3 pair of Quinn Perry and Lindsey Sparks are 8-3. Ella Connor and Madi Nichols are 14-5 this year between the No. 4 and No. 3 spot.
Connor also reached 75 career wins with her two victories Saturday.
With the regular season now over, Cal Poly gets ready to compete in the Big West Championship next week in Santa Monica. Seeking their fourth conference title, the tournament gets underway Thursday, April 24 and continues April 25 with the Mustangs heading in as the No. 1 seed.
