Mustangs Shutout Hawai’i in Big West Home Opener

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. — Cal Poly men's tennis had a statement win at home Saturday, shutting out Hawai'i 4-0 in its Big West home opener.
In doubles, the Mustangs took the point after wins at the No. 1 spot by Raz Haviv and Bastiaan Weststrate 6-2 as well as the No. 2 duo of John Cross and Sean Kamyshev 6-3.
In singles, Aaron Eliscu made quick work of his opponent at the No. 6 spot, winning 5-2, 6-1 to give Cal Poly a 2-0 lead. A short time later, Cross made it 3-0 after his dominant performance at the No. 3 spot, 6-2, 6-0.
The duel was then clinched for the Mustangs by Kamyshev at the No. 4 spot after he picked up a 6-3, 6-2 victory.
Cal Poly will head to Phoenix next week to take on Grand Canyon University on Wednesday, March 26 and Seattle University Thursday, March 27.
