Mustangs Fall in Tough Battle to No. 42 Boise State

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. — Cal Poly men's tennis put on an impressive showing in doubles, but the Mustangs ultimately fell at home Wednesday to No. 42 Boise State, 5-2.
Cal Poly had a great start to the match in doubles. The No. 1 pair of Raz Haviv and Bastiaan Weststrate collected an impressive 6-4 win over the No. 74 ranked doubles team in the country. The Mustangs' No. 2 pair of John Cross and Sean Kamyshev also had a good win to help clinch the doubles point, 6-3.
In singles, Weststrate picked up a 6-1, 6-1 victory at the No. 2 spot to improve to 6-7 on the season.
Cal Poly battled at the other five singles spots, with two of them going three sets. However, the No. 42 Broncos won at all five spots to win the match.
The Mustangs will resume Big West play Saturday when they host Hawai'i at noon at Ronca Tennis Center.
