SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. — Five student-athletes on the Cal Poly women's soccer team earned College Sports Communicators Academic All-District honors on Tuesday.
Graduate student Madelyn Dougherty, seniors Brennan Cole, Jessie Halladay and Camryn Penn, and redshirt junior Sophia Minnite were all recognized for their exceptional performance and dedication in the classroom and on the pitch.
The Academic All-District Women's Soccer Teams recognize the nation's top student-athletes and to qualify, student-athletes must maintain a 3.50 GPA, be at least a sophomore academically and athletically, and have played in at least 90 percent of their team's games this season or started in at least 66 percent of them. Each Division I women's soccer program is only allowed to nominate up to six players for recognition.
This is the third straight year Minnite has received the honor and the second time Cole has garnered the praise. Dougherty, Halladay and Penn are all first-time honorees.
Dougherty, Cole and Halladay all had exceptional seasons both on and off the pitch, warranting them consideration for CSC Academic All-America honors, which will be announced on Dec. 17.
