SAN LUIS OBISPO – The Cal Poly men’s golf program completed its three-player signing class ahead of the 2026-27 season Friday with Frederick Egnatios (Scottsdale, Ariz.) set to join the Mustang lineup next fall.
An All-Arizona selection and captain of the state’s top-ranked program, Notre Dame Prep, Egnatios finished as runner-up at the 2025 Arizona Interscholastic Association state championship. After competing in June’s U.S. Open qualifier, Egnatios recorded a 12th-place effort at July’s Arizona Stroke Play Championship with an 11-under 273.
Steadily gaining experience at the junior level, Egnatios has qualified for the Junior PGA Championship and finished inside the top 10 at August’s AJGA Russell Henley Championship in Georgia. In early October, he won the AJGA Imperial Hawaii Junior Classic.
“Frederick's trajectory in the game can be characterized by steady and calculated growth that’s slowly getting reflected in his ranking among the nation’s best,” Cal Poly head coach Phil Rowe said. “His relatively late start in top-tier competitive golf can partly be attributed to his two-sport varsity commitments alongside hockey, which is reminiscent of the trajectory of PGA player Maverick McNealy.
“During the recruiting process, Frederick revealed his deep love of the game and immense desire to reach his dreams of professional tour golf. We look forward to helping him piece together all the necessary resources that will lead to great success during his time with Cal Poly and beyond.”
Egnatios joins Eidan Jamzidi (Kuala Lampur, Malaysia) and Leo McDonough (Lafayette, Calif.) in Cal Poly’s November signing class.
