SAN LUIS OBISPO – Featuring five conference champions from a year ago and seven postseason qualifiers – including NCAA Tournament participants UCLA, Colorado State and Montana – the Cal Poly men’s basketball team recently finalized its 2025-26 schedule with the announcement of the program’s 12-game, non-conference slate.
The non-conference schedule also includes five programs that won 20-plus games a season ago and represents opponents from eight different conferences.
Cal Poly’s 20-game Big West schedule was released in August with that announcement HERE.
Cal Poly, which returns seven letterwinners from last year’s squad that reached the Big West Championship semifinals, hosts Division II Cal State East Bay (11-17, 9-13 CCAA last season) for a Friday, Oct. 24 exhibition before opening its 32nd Division I season and 82nd as a four-year program on Monday, Nov. 3 at 2025 College Basketball Crown postseason participant USC (17-18, 7-13 Big Ten).
After returning home to host Division III and Northwest Conference runner-up Pacific Lutheran (14-12, 11-5) on Wednesday, Nov. 5, the Mustangs begin a six-game road trip at Seattle (14-18, 8-8 WAC) on Saturday, Nov. 8.

The road trip continues Wednesday, Nov. 12 at 2025 Mountain West Tournament champion Colorado State (26-10, 16-4). Seeded 12th for last year’s NCAA Tournament, the Rams eliminated Memphis before falling to fourth-seeded Maryland.
A Friday, Nov. 14 matchup at Big Sky regular season and tournament champion Montana (25-10, 15-3) follows before the Mustangs visit Utah (16-17, 8-12) on Thursday, Nov. 20. The Utes also qualified for last year’s College Basketball Crown postseason event.
Cal Poly completes the road trip Nov. 24-25 with back-to-back matchups at Northern Arizona (18-16, 8-10 Big Sky) and versus reigning Ohio Valley Conference regular season champion Southeast Missouri State (21-12, 15-5). Northern Arizona qualified for last year’s postseason College Basketball Invitational.
The Mustangs return to Mott Athletics Center Saturday, Nov. 29 to welcome defending SCIAC champion Redlands (25-5, 14-2), which reached the 2025 NCAA Division III Tournament quarterfinals.
Cal Poly enjoys its initial two conference dates Dec. 4 and 6 as part of Big West Bold Week before welcoming Montana State (15-18, 9-9) on Tuesday, Dec. 16.
The Mustangs then visit UCLA (23-11, 13-7 Big Ten) on Friday, Dec. 19 (the Bruins reached the 2025 NCAA Tournament second round) – before completing non-conference play Sunday, Dec. 21 by welcoming Idaho (14-19, 8-10).
