Mustangs Fall at Denver Friday

DENVER — Playing on the road for the first time this season, Cal Poly men's tennis suffered its first loss of the season Friday at the hands of the University of Denver, 7-0.
The Mustangs (1-1) battled in both singles and doubles, with several long matches. In doubles, the No. 1 tandem of sophomores Raz Haviv and Sean Kamyshev picked up their second win of the season after winning their match 6-3.
However, the Pioneers (4-1), an NCAA Tournament team last season that brought back much of that team this season, went on to win at No. 2 doubles 6-2 and No. 3 doubles 6-3 to take the point.
In singles, Cal Poly fought as senior Bastiaan Weststrate and freshman Jack McGary both went to three sets in their matches. However, both came up just short and Denver won in straight sets at the other four spots to win the dual.
The Mustangs will look to bounce back Saturday when they stay in Denver to take on Northern Arizona University at 10 a.m. PT.
