SAN LUIS OBSPO, Calif. — Cal Poly men’s tennis will officially open its 2025 spring schedule this week when they open the season hosting Sacramento State Saturday at the Ronca Tennis Center.
Cal Poly will take on the Hornets at 2 p.m. in the first match at the newly renovated Ronca Tennis Center which now features resurfaced courts, lights, and the brand new Comerford Pavilion, the new home for Cal Poly men’s and women’s tennis. Live scoring is available for the match and can be found on the schedule page.
The Mustangs are coming off a 2024 spring season in which they reached the semifinals of the Big West Championship and finished top three in the Big West standings for the fourth time in the last five years. Three players who earned All-Big West honors last year return: senior Bastiaan Weststrate and sophomores Raz Haviv and Sean Kamyshev. All three earned All-Big West honors in doubles.
Sacramento State is 0-1 so far this season after falling to Santa Clara. Last season, the Hornets won the Big Sky and made the NCAA Tournament. The Mustangs are 4-2 all-time against Sac State. This will be the first meeting since 2022.
Following Saturday’s match, Cal Poly will head to Denver for two matches next week. They will take on University of Denver Jan. 31 at 4 p.m. and Northern Arizona Feb. 1 in Denver at 10 a.m.
