COMPLETE NFCA ALL-REGION SELECTIONS
SAN LUIS OBISPO – Three days after becoming a three-time All-Big West first team honoree, junior Jessica Clements became just the third three-time NFCA All-West Region selection in program history on Saturday morning with the Cal Poly softball team's standout center fielder earning second team selection.
Clements, also named the 2024 Big West Player of the Year Wednesday, finished the regular season ranked fourth among NCAA Division I hitters with a .464 (71-for-153) batting average that doubles as the third highest single season mark in the program's 50-year history. She also ranks 15th nationally with a .526 on-base percentage and 29th with 71 hits.
Also the Big West's leader with 105 total bases and a .686 slugging percentage, Clements closed the regular season ranked second for triples (four), fourth for doubles (11), fifth for runs (35) and ninth for homers (five). She hit safely in 39 of 45 matchups with 23 multi-hit-efforts (including nine three-hit games). Having averaged 1.6 hits per game, Clements ranks as the 36th toughest player to strike out in Division I, averaging just one per 25.5 at-bats (she closed the year with just three strikeouts in her final 114 at-bats).
Cal Poly's leadoff batter in 116 of 135 career outings, Clements remained the top hitter in program history and second leading hitter in Big West history with a .416 (194-for-466) career mark after three years. Her 194 hits also rank seventh all-time in Cal Poly history.
Clements is Cal Poly's first three-time NFCA All-Region selection since All-American Sierra Hyland (2014-17) retired as the only four-year, all-region honoree. Second baseman Christy Punches also earned three NFCA All-Region honors from 1992-94.
