Martin Breaks Own School Record at Triton Invitational

RESULTS
LA JOLLA, Calif. — Junior Travis Martin shattered his own school record in the men's hammer throw for the third time this season to highlight action for Cal Poly track and field at the Triton Invitational on Friday and Saturday.
Nine Mustang throwers and one jumper competed in the two-day meet hosted by UC San Diego.
Martin continued his impressive season by winning the men's hammer throw at the meet with a personal best of 217 feet, 8 inches, breaking his previous school record by 8 inches.
As the lone Cal Poly jumper at the meet, junior Melody Nwagwu made sure to represent, capturing first in the women's triple jump with a season best (40-0.5). She is currently No. 7 all-time at Cal Poly in the event.
Freshman Taylor Hofland tossed a personal best in the women's shot put (41-7.25), while junior Corban Payne grabbed fourth in the elite division of the men's shot put (55-7.75). Sophomore Rory Devaney earned sixth in the men's discus (166-11).
Cal Poly's full team will be back in action this coming week to take part in the Bryan Clay Invitational on April 11-13 and the Beach Invitational on April 12-13.
