PAWLEYS ISLAND, S.C. – It was another strong outing this week for the Cal Poly women's golf team as the Mustangs finished third and four players placed in the top 30 at the Golfweek/AGT Intercollegiate after Wednesday's final round was cancelled due to bad weather.
The Mustangs, who had a top three finish for the third straight tournament, were making a run for first before Wednesday's final round had to be called. Because it was cancelled before finishing the round, the Mustangs were reverted back to where they stood after Tuesday's second round which was third place at 14 over par.
Individually, Sarah Yoo finished tied for seventh at two over par. Jensen Jalufka placed tied for 11th at three over. Kamille Dimayuga finished tied for 21st at five over while Kaylee Sakoda was tied for 29th at six over par.
"I love the belief this team has in themselves," said head coach Courtney Roberts. "It's a special group. It was another solid performance this week from our team."
Cal Poly finished five strokes behind second place Florida Gulf Coast and eight behind first place High Point.
This was the final regular season event for Cal Poly, who now gets ready for the Big West Championship April 14-16 at Spanish Trail Country Club in Las Vegas. Cal Poly heads into it with a lot of good momentum as they get ready to go for a fourth straight Big West title.
"We can't wait to get right back out to compete next weekend it give it our all to bring a Big West championship back to SLO." Roberts added.
