FRESNO, Calif. – The Cal Poly women's golf program continued to build on its strong 2024 run, shooting 871 as a team over three rounds at the Fresno State Classic, placing 2nd among 21 teams including five other Big West counterparts.
On the back of top-5 individual placements from veteran Jensen Jalufka and true freshman Sarah Yoo, the Mustangs pulled off their third consecutive top-3 team finish, which also makes back-to-back runner up performances.
Sarah Yoo, who has been steadily making a name for herself as a first-year for the Mustangs, blitzed her previous career-best 54-round score, shooting a 214 through the tournament for a five-stroke improvement.
Yoo also shot a 68 (-4) in the third and final round, helping Cal Poly to jump one spot from day one-to-two in the team standings while tying for second place individually, her first career top-10 finish and highest placement.
Leading golfer on the year, Jalufka was averaging a 72.8 stroke average coming into the tournament and had yet another fantastic showing. The redshirt junior tied for fourth place in a pool of 116 participants, shooting the opening and closing rounds below par for an even-par finish.
Kaylee Sakoda's third round, shooting a 73, also greatly assisted in the team's success as she and Kamille Dimayuga both tied for 37th individually. With Nicole Neale jumping two places on the final day of competition, all five golfers on the submitted team placed in the top-50 individually.
Cal Poly wraps up regular season competition from Apr. 1-3, traveling to the Atlantic coast for the Golfweek/AGT Invitational in Pawleys Island, South Carolina.
