Cal Poly Men’s Tennis Returns to Action with Win Over Eastern Washington

BOISE, Idaho — Playing for the first time in nearly three weeks, Cal Poly men's tennis didn't miss a beat. The Mustangs took down Eastern Washington 6-1 Friday in a neutral site match played on the campus of Boise State.Colter Smith and junior Bastiaan Weststrate started it off by winning their match 6-1. The point was later clinched by the No. 3 pairing of seniors Joe Leather and Noah Berry after they won their match 6-3.
Cal Poly kept things rolling once singles play got going. Berry made light work of his opponent at the No. 1 spot, 6-1, 6-1. Weststrate then gave the Mustangs their third point of the match after winning his match at the No. 4 spot 6-2, 6-1 to improve his singles record to 3-0 this season.
The win was then clinched for Cal Poly by Leather, who made his return to the lineup for the first time this season and played his first match in several months after coming back from injury. There was no rust for Leather as he won his match at the No. 3 spot in straight sets, 6-3, 6-4.
Also picking up singles wins for the Mustangs were freshmen Raz Haviv at the No. 5 spot and Sean Kamyshev at the No. 6 spot.

Cal Poly is back in action Saturday at 11 a.m. PT against Boise State.
