BOISE, Idaho — Cal Poly men's tennis took care of business in doubles but were unable to keep it going in singles as the Mustangs fell on the road Saturday at Boise State, 6-1.
In doubles play, The Mustangs' (2-2) No. 1 pairing of senior Colter Smith and junior Bastiaan Weststrate got things started with a 6-4 win to improve to 4-0 this year. Cal Poly's No. 2 freshmen tandem of Raz Haviv and Sean Kamyshev then came through with a tiebreaker win 7-6(5) to secure the point for the Mustangs and improve to 2-0 together this season.
In singles, three of the six matches went three sets. However, the Mustangs were unable to pull out any as the Broncos (4-3) went on to win all six matches and take the victory 6-1.
Cal Poly will return to San Luis Obispo for its first home match of the season next Saturday, Feb. 17 at 12 p.m. at Mustang Tennis Complex.
