Cal Poly Beach Volleyball Heads to LA to Face Four Ranked Teams

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif - After starting off the season a perfect 4-0 last weekend, the Cal Poly beach volleyball team is will face one of its toughest weekends of the season this weekend (Mar. 1-2) at the Battle For LA Tournament co-hosted by UCLA and USC

The No. 18 Mustangs are scheduled to face off against four teams currently positioned within the top 20 ranks. This week, Cal Poly ascended in the rankings, moving up from No. 20 to No. 18.

Friday's schedule is jam-packed with tough competition. At noon, they'll take on No. 1 UCLA, followed by a 2pm match against No. 8 Cal.

Saturday is also shaping up to be a busy day, starting with a 10am match against defending NCAA champions USC, ranked No. 3. At 2pm, the Mustangs will take on No. 14 Grand Canyon University.

Cal Poly is feeling good coming off a 4-0 start to the season this past weekend in Louisiana. the No. 1 duo Ella Connor and Izzy Martinez have an undefeated 4-0 record, solidifying their position at the top of the lineup. Additionally, the No. 2 pairing of Piper Ferch and Erin Inskeep also went 4-0 in the opening weekend.

After this tournament, the Mustangs have a busy weekend ahead in Long Beach next week, facing off against Santa Clara, Florida International University, Stetson, and Southern Mississippi.
