SAN LUIS OBISPO – The Cal Poly men's soccer program begins its 22nd season of Big West play when hosting UC Davis (Wednesday, Sept. 27) before visiting defending conference tournament champion UC Riverside (Saturday, Sept. 30). Kickoff both evenings on ESPN+ is 7 p.m. for Cal Poly (2-4-1), which saw a three-match undefeated run snapped during a 2-0 setback at rival UC Santa Barbara (Sept. 23). The Mustangs enter Wednesday's Big West opener having conceded just four goals in the previous four games after allowing 11 in the opening three matches. With 27 total conference points on offer in the ensuing four weeks, the top six programs in the 10-team Big West table qualify for the Nov. 1, 4 and 11 Big West Championship. UC Davis (3-3-2) closed Big West preparations with just one victory in its last six matches, stemming a five-game winless run with a 3-0 home victory against San Jose State (Sept. 24). Still seeking its first victory, UC Riverside's only non-conference points came in draws at San Diego (Sept. 8) and versus California Baptist (Sept. 23). The Highlanders (0-6-2) visit UC Irvine Wednesday before facing Cal Poly.
