Cal Poly Climbs to Seventh Place in 2023 NCAA Pullman Regional

SECOND-ROUND RESULTS
PULLMAN, Wash. -- Cal Poly climbed one spot into seventh place, but fell 11 shots behind fifth-place Baylor after the second round of play in the 2023 NCAA Division I Pullman Regional on Tuesday at the Palouse Ridge Golf Club.
Needing to finish fifth or higher to advance to the NCAA Division National Championship for the first time in program history, Coach Courtney Roberts' Mustangs carded a four-person one-over-par 289 total on the 6,054-yard course.
Cal Poly is seventh with a 36-hole one-under-par 575 total. Baylor is fifth with a 12-under-par 564 aggregate while Sacramento State sits between the Bears and Mustangs at 568.
Top-seeded and defending NCAA champion Stanford leads the way with a 35-under-par 541 total, 18 shots ahead of second-place Texas Tech and 20 in front of third-place Clemson.
Top five teams advance to the national championship May 19-24 at the Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Arizona.
Individually, Mustang Nicole Neale followed her first-round 68 with a 70 and remained in a tie for ninth place with three other golfers. Neale's 70 included five birdies and three bogeys.
Elizabeth Scholtes climbed six spots into 24th place with a 71 and a one-under-par 143 total while Jensen Jalufka is tied for 38th place with a second-round 73 and a one-over-par 145 aggregate.
Completing Cal Poly's scoring, Kamille Dimayuga and Vanessa Wang both carded 75s Tuesday -- Dimayuga in 53rd place with a 149 total and Wang 60th at 153.
Rose Zhang of Stanford has posted rounds of 64 and 68 for a 12-under-par 132 and first place, one shot ahead of Texas Tech's Shannon Tan (66-67--133). Sadle Englemann (64-70--134) of Stanford is another stroke back in third place.
Neale continues to lead in par-three scoring at four under par and her 11 birdies trails only Zhang's 13.
Wednesday's final round tees off at 8 a.m.
