Saysanasongkham Shoots Two Eagles and Places Top-10 Individually as Mustangs Finish 7th

FT. COLLINS, Colo. — The Cal Poly women’s golf team continued its 2026-27 season with a seventh-place finish at the Ben Connell Ram Classic hosted by Colorado State in Fort Collins, Colorado.
Located at the Ptarmigan Golf and Country Club, the same par-72 venue where the Mustangs have enjoyed considerable success in recent years, Cal Poly posted a 54-hole team total of 10-over par, following rounds of 4-over 292, 5-under 283, and 11-over 299. UNLV captured the team title at 19-under par, followed by Washington at 4-under and San Diego State at 3-under.
Former Big West counterparts UC Davis and Hawai’i, now part of the Mountain West after a joint move this year, finished tied for fourth and 11th, respectively.
Sophomore Maddy Saysanasongkham continued her strong precedent of play in Colorado, finishing in a tie for seventh place at 4-under par with rounds of 69, 71, and 72 for a 212 total.
Her opening-round 69 and second-round 71 gave her a 36-hole total of 140, a three-shot improvement over her 143 through two rounds at last season’s Ptarmigan Ram Classic, where she posted rounds of 70 and 73. Her 212 total represents a five-shot improvement over the 217 she posted at the 2025-26 Ptarmigan Ram Classic.
Saysanasongkham’s performance marks her second career top-10 finish, adding to her T-10 result at the 2025 Ptarmigan Ram Classic.
Fellow sophomore Alex Flier also returned to the site of one of her better performances from a season ago. Flier opened with a 1-over 73, followed by a 4-over 76 and an 8-over 80 to finish at 13-over par in a tie for 63rd.
Senior Sara Torres posted rounds of 79, 73, and 74 for a 226 total and a tie for 50th place at 10-over par. Her second-round 73 was four strokes better than her 77 in the same round last season, and her 36-hole total of 152 marked a three-shot improvement over her 155 through two rounds at the 2025 Ptarmigan Ram Classic.
Senior Sarah Yoo, competing as an individual, posted rounds of 73, 75, and 74 for a 222 total and a tie for 36th place at 6-over par. Yoo, who has historically excelled at Ptarmigan Country Club after firing a career-best 66 at the 2024 Ptarmigan Ram Classic, showed consistency throughout the week with all three rounds in the 70s.
First years Lexi Lowe and Ashley Gettleman also had strong debut showings for the Mustangs. Lowe finished in a tie for 31st at 4-over par with rounds of 73, 68, and 79 for a 220 total, highlighted by a second-round 68 that was the low round of the tournament for Cal Poly. Gettleman enjoyed rounds of 77, 71, and 74 for a 222 total, tying Yoo for 36th place at 6-over par.
With a huge improvement on the previous week and momentum in tow, women’s golf will take a small hiatus until October 12-14 when the Mustangs travel to Las Cruces for the Golf Iconic Classic hosted by New Mexico.
